Description

Claude and Agnès Corbon, father and his daughter, manage the 6 hectares in the heart of Côte des Blancs, in Avize, 100% Grand Cru. It all started in the 20s when Charles Corbon moved to Avize, worked in a maison and the began buying its own vineyards. For a long time, they grew grapes and sold them to other maisons. In the 70s they decided to turn into a real wine-producer thanks to Claude Corbon. Since 2006 his daugther Agnès is involved in the business. Their Champagne idea is simple and clear: no filtration or collages, no additives, and a period of three years before bottles are commercialised, in some case even a longer one. The result is a sincere, lively, intriguing wine, never too obvious and predictable.

The “Les Bacchantes” (which is “The Mustache” in old French slang) bottling was the first cuvée that was added to the line-up after Agnès took over production. The wine marked her foray into barrel aging her Chardonnay before secondary fermentation. At the time of bottling the first cuvée of this barrel aged wine, her father had grown a mustache in support of “Movember”, so to celebrate him & tease him a bit she named it as such & had a mustache drawing added to the label.
