Bodega Luis Cañas has been a family owned winery for the last two centuries, devoting itself to viticulture and winemaking. Clearly, 1989 represent a turning point in the winery evolution, with Juan Luis Cañas taking over the direction of the operations from Luis Cañas his father. He undoubtedly brought fresh ideas and began to develop a new strategy encouraging aged wines producing and beginning to lay the foundations of what would later become the new winery. Nowadays, Bodega Luis Canas is recognized as one of the leading wineries as well as the most awarded winery among the prestigious Rioja region.

The 2008 Reserva has pure blueberry and black currant aromas and plenty of balsamic and spicy notes (cloves, cinnamon) showing very young for its age. The palate is very pleasant, with freshness and clean flavors, intensity and good length. Drink 2014-2018. Wine Advocate 92 (2008)
